Construction Vibration Damage Guide for Homeowners
Versions for Mobile Devices

The CVDG's pages can be read on the web with most mobile devices. The pages are specially coded to allow reading on small mobile device screens with a minimum of horizontal scrolling.

The PDF version of the CVDG, downloaded from this site in its most recent version, can be read directly on most e-readers and smartphones (excepting the original Kindle and a couple other less well-known devices). It will be the right one for most e-readers, as it preserves graphics, color and page layout better. If you find that the view of the PDF depicted on your mobile device forces you to scroll horizontally more than you like, you can either simply reorient your device in landscape mode or reflow the text to fit on your device screen by choosing from the Acrobat® Reader menu View,Zoom,Reflow.

Other E-reader Formats

Special versions of the CVDG for mobile devices in most e-reader formats (PDF, ZIP (all formats), EPUB, MOBI, Daisy, Full Text, DjVu, and others) are available free from archive.org.  Each of these versions will differ somewhat from the corresponding PDF or web versions, depending on the capabilities of the e-reader used, but will have nearly identical text to the PDF of that Edition. The archive.org versions are now very dated (by more than 10 editions), but still have much information. If you're not sure which format you need, you can check your device user manual or consult a Wikipedia article which describes e-reader formats. Those whose e-readers can handle PDF files (the overwhelming majority) should download the PDF from vibrationdamage.com, rather than archive.org or any other source, as the version here is always the most recent and complete version.

Older E-readers

If you have an original Kindle (1st generation), which doesn't support PDF files, you can have the PDF converted to a readable format for your original Kindle by Amazon for free. The same license and copyright restrictions apply to the converted file as to the original PDF. Just download the PDF version, then have Amazon do the conversion. You can find directions for how to carry this out in your Kindle manual or in the link just above.  Aside from the Kindle 1st generation format, AZW, the MOBI format works best on most early Kindles.

There are also many programs available free which will convert the CVDG PDF into any other format for your e-reader (e.g. Calibre e-book manager), as well as provide cataloguing and viewing functions.

Displaying Titles Properly

On the older Kindles and, perhaps, other readers, the CDVG will simply up in the home screen as a file name (e.g. "cvdg36.pdf"). This seems to stem from the failure of at least these older devices to properly read the metadata embedded in the file. You can fix this simply by renaming the file "Construction_Vibration_Damage_Guide" or "Construction_Vibration_Damage_Guide_Professional_Edition". It should now show up correctly with the title. If you have the Calibre e-book management system and reader for PC, you can also add the CVDG to your library. Calibre will take care of the renaming for you. Now just copy the PDF to your e-reader from the Calibre library.

CVDG License

The CVDG License terms (click link to view in a new tab, also included in CVDG) apply to all versions of the CVDG, even if downloaded from some other source. They are also included with the PDF. You can view them from the download form itself.
